About
Every nervous system has a story to be told.
After more than three decades as an executive in the global fashion industry, Joan reached a breaking point: the strategies that had once helped her succeed no longer worked, and those patterns had become dysfunctional. What began as burnout and substance recovery became a much deeper exploration into the remarkable adaptability of the human nervous system.
Today, Joan is the creator of a growing body of work in Nervous System Literacy, an integration of science, embodied awareness, mindfulness, contemplative practice, systems thinking, and lived experience. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with me?" her work explores a different question:
What if your nervous system has been communicating with you all along, and no one ever taught you how to understand its language?
Through stories, gentle movement, breathwork, ritual, and reflection, Joan helps people recognize the sources of safety that have protected them through life's most difficult seasons, while gradually integrating more diverse and sustainable sources of safety into their nervous systems over time.
Her work is grounded in one simple belief:
Our adaptations deserve curiosity, not judgment.
Joan invites people to become more fluent in the language of their own nervous system, expanding their capacity, deepening their self-understanding, and discovering greater freedom to choose what comes next.
